Shannon Walsh is a researcher, filmmaker, and activist working out of McGill University. Walsh recently directed Fire & Hope, a film about HIV/AIDS made with youth, for youth, in South Africa and is currently in research and development on a one-hour documentary about AIDS treatment in the global South. Her research areas focus on arts-based methodology and activism, independent and community-based film, youth, gender, and HIV/AIDS. She has contributed numerous chapters to collected works, and has also published articles in journals such Sex Education (Routledge), Feminist Media Studies (Routledge) and Agenda (Agenda Feminist Publishing, Durban). Her current
research focuses on arts-based development with youth on social activism, AIDS, gender and politics. Selected publications
